Marksmanship is a prized skill among the Imperial infantry forces. Platoons of snipers are recruited to maintain close visual contact with the enemy and to engage targets from concealed positions or physical distances exceeding the detection capabilities of the enemy.

Snipers are a rare exception in the Imperial army being equipped with high quality slug rifles and optical sensors and often have sophisticated communication assets to feed valuable combat information back to their commanders.
